IDEAS - IDEA02
| The idea of holding a 'Societies Fair' in 2018 ... and, if that goes well, from time to time thenafter. The following is shown here as a record of how GVGI developed over the first year or so of its existence. However, as reported in News Item #03, since September 2019 these Idea pages have not been updated for developments and so may now be inconsistent with the rest of the site and GVGI's present position. *********************** |
Consequent to our Idea#01, we would like:
- to improve the awareness of The General Public of all of the many community-support groups in our area; AND
- to improve the awareness of the many community-support groups in our area of each other; AND
- to encourage the many community-support groups in our area to co-operate with each other; BUT
- to do so in a way that is effective (no point otherwise), simple & efficient (easy to do & cheap to arrange) and do-able one-off but repeatable (it is works OK).
An obvious solution to this was to hold a 'Societies Fair' in our area - so we have done. We held our first one on Sunday 18th November 2018, at Ewyas Harold Memorial Hall. A report on it is given HERE. We are thinking about holding another one in 2020, and possibly one in 2022, but we are not yet committed to that. These will probably be supplemented by a series of meetings ('Discussion Groups'). More on them elsewhere.

Holding a Societies Fair should give a boost to what we are trying to achieve but one-off & occasional events need to be supported by ongoing campaigns. That leads us to Idea#03.
